Hi!

Welcome!

Nice to "meet" you all!
I am an Alaskan Native-Tsimshean and Athabascan (more on that another time) that broke the mold of my fisherman based family to go get a doctorate and become a veterinarian. And in my opinion, I now have one of the coolest jobs in the industry, a traveling veterinarian!

I am a small animal veterinarian with over a decade of experience. I travel all over the United States providing relief work for both emergency and general practice veterinarian hospitals. This blog is NOT intended to give medical veterinary advice of any kind. I will include informative veterinary related stories that I encounter but do not plan on providing any sort of actual medical advice for your pets. Although I do love all your fur babies!

Sometimes I work during the day sometimes I work overnight. I see healthy patients and dying patients.

I work in tropical climates and frigid northern states.

I often feel like I am the character in a veterinary Dr. Suess book...

Will you treat a dog with a broken toe in the snow? I will.

Will you treat a feverish feline at 9? I will

Will you treat a snake by the lake? I will

I will treat them here or there I will treat them anywhere!

When I am not traveling all over to practice vet medicine I am at home taking care of my amazing family.  My family is a group of survivors. My preteen son has thrived after 3 open heart surgeries. I am 5 years post lung lobectomy for lung cancer. My daughter and husband have stayed strong for us throughout facing these medical traumas. We have been through the ringer and are now stronger for it.

Life with a mom that who is coming and going every other week, is hard for my kiddos. But we have all learned how to manage and make the best of our situation. And how am I able to be a mom and be gone about 45% of the time? An amazing partner of course, my hubby D is not only my love but the glue that helps hold this family together. We are a team in every since of the word and I could not do this without him.

I love my fam, animals, coffee, travel, food, beer, and adventures.

I have many stories, adventures, tips, and tricks for being a badass traveling working DVM mom I want to share with you, so stick with me! It will be entertaining I hope! Have questions, thoughts, comments, I am happy to hear them.
